THE ORDINATION - July 25, 2004 - 4:00 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church.
An ordination is when a candidate is set aside for Word and Sacrament Ministry by the church. The candidate must first be properly trained, educated, examined, and certified for call. Next a congregation (or other church institution) must issue a call to serve in a specific Word and Sacrament ministry. At the ordination service the candidate is asked to make vows of proper teaching and preachin, good conduct, and faithfulness to the Gospel. The candidate is then blessed for ministry through prayers and the laying on of hands.
